Google FAQ updates indicate that as of May 7, 2026, support for FAQ rich results will cease. This change means that FAQ rich results will no longer be visible in Google Search results going forward.
Additionally, Google Search Console will stop reporting on FAQ structured data after this date.
According to Google, a notice was placed at the top of the FAQ structured data developer documentation, stating, “FAQ rich results SEO impact are no longer appearing in Google Search. We will be dropping the FAQ search appearance, rich result report, and support in the Rich results test in June 2026.” To provide some time to adjust your API calls, the support for FAQ rich results within the Search Console API will be discontinued in August 2026.
You have the option to remove the Google FAQ structured data from your code if you choose. However, it is also permissible to leave it in place, as other search engines might still process and utilize this data for their own purposes.
Understanding this change is crucial because rich results generally have boosted web pages’ click-through rates, potentially increasing traffic. FAQ rich results likely contributed to this as well, but that support is now coming to an end.
